When Picasso Met Matisse

We had an incident a little while back with people think some people's art was better then others.... which made me not too happy. So I brought out one of my favorite books to teach the lesson that all art is good we just have different tastes!
The kids love the book, and it also taught a bit of history about the famous artists Picasso and Matisse.
When we were done discussing they did self portraits of themselves. They then had to decide were they a Picasso or a Matisse. It was very interesting what they chose and why :).

Red Box of Books

This was my bulletin board all last month! The kids loved writing up recomendations for our "Red Box of Books". I had them redraw the cover on a half peice of paper to go with it. It was a great writing project for them! You can get for free the book recomendation page here:

The Begining of the Year

Setting up a classroom is one of the most stressful things I have ever done... I m sure the first year is probably the worst! There are so many ideas, and with no money it is hard to accomplish all those pinterest looks. So I scurried around, and this is what I came up with for this year! My mom was such a huge help to me. She has been a teacher for many years, and kept me from getting too overwhelmed, and where to take short cuts :).
Above you see my writing wall, with "Beary Good Writing" above it!
My very first bulletin board I chose to go frog themed!
So excited to see my name above the door! YAY!
My fab library!
Happy Helpers I think is my kids; favorite thing! Each kid has a job for the week.
