Kevin Henkes Author Study! Bonus a Freebie!

I can't believe I finished it! It has been so fun reading through my Kevin Henkes favorites, and creating for them! I have posted each book study individually so if you are just looking for a certain one that is still available to you! I also have them all bundled for $20.00. I know what you are thinking... that's a lot of money. But this pack is seriously JAMMED PACKED! over 300 pages of activities. Craftivities for the stories like you have never seen before! I mean it really goes all out. Plus if you bought it all separately it would be $31.50! Something that is cool about the bundle is you get an added bonus of cumulative activities to do for Kevin Henkes. You can check that out in the image below: Click any of the images and it will take you to the bundle!
Check out what else is in the bundle in the images below:

Since it is such a big purchase I did make one book study a freebie. Lilly's Big Day. It is smaller then the other book studies, but it gives you a taste for what you will find inside these packs! Click the image below to download your "Lilly's Big Day" for FREE!
Here's also a picture from a first grade classroom that was using the folder name activity from my Chrysanthemum Pack. Love seeing my work used in other classrooms!

Keepin' it Simple Frogs

Now being over 6 months pregnant and trying to teach first grade, I find I am not able to do everything I once was able to do as a teacher. Sometimes I must embrace easier things that are less complicated. The kids still love them, so it's ok right?

We have been learning about Frogs these past few weeks (before that it was Penguins if I get a chance I will post about that later). I did a big life cycle chart stuffed full of facts and real pictures that I had printed off. I also whipped up a quick Frog pictorial. They love watching these pictorials come alive. I pencil them in, and as I talk to the group I use Mr. Sketch markers to bring it alive!
Check out the finish frog pictorial below:

I did let them make there own pictorials of frogs with just plain white paper when we were done. I wish I would have snapped a picture of a few. We have some really talented artists in this first grade class.  We also watched Bill Nye's Amphibians video. We have Safari Montage at our school, but if you don't have that you can also get it on YouTube just click here
I like my students to reflect after they watch a video like this. I really didn't feel like whipping up my own writing page so I grabbed one from the website kidzone. They have great simple worksheets for things like this. Just click here to get the worksheet the picture below.

The site also had a great frog labeling sheet for the frog parts. Just click here to get the worksheet the picture below.

If You Give a Pig a Pancake and a FREEBIE Activitiy ideas

This week we have been busy reading "If Your Give a Pig a Pancake" by. Laura Numeroff. It is a student favorite. We also read "If You Give a Moose a Muffin. We then created our own "If You Give a _____ a _____". We did one as a class, then as a group, finally as an individual. Our group/ class versions were done very simply on big paper folded into eighths. I even wrote in the sentence starters for them. I whipped it up real fast before my kids came in. Sometimes the best activities are those last minute ones that take very few copies. You can see below the class one then the group ones.  The top was done as a class. On the group one they got to add pictures.

Now for the freebie. I created the individual one on my computer. It is also split into eighths, and using the same sentence starters. The first couple are example the last one is an image of the paper. Just right click and save image then print! Enjoy!!!
